Postwar housing boom. "Corner of Bel Aire Drive and Tufts Drive ( looking North West ). Home under construction on Left Hand Side of Photo: 948 Tufts. Home(s) on Right Hand Side of Photo: 949 Tufts ( corner of Tufts and Bel Aire ), 943 Tufts, 937 Tufts. All Homes are under construction from Grandview Builders, Inc. and are within the First Phase of "Benmar Hills" ( 1950- 1953 ). This site prior to Home Construction ( 1950-1954 ) was the proposed site for the University of California ( Southern California Campus ) as offered by the original Benmar Hills Corporation ( 1922 - 1930 )." information courtesy of Michael Ragan
