Description
Virgil Banning, 34, a wearer of the Purple Heart, became the first veteran to occupy a quonset hut in the new Rodger Young Village in Griffith Park on April 22, 1946. Left to right, N. L. Pulley, Merl Horn, county American Legion commander; Banning and Mel Young, housing committee chairman.
