Description
The Citizens Bank building (built 1895) at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Holt Boulevard in Ontario, San Bernardino County, California. Signs on storefronts include "Henderson & Kennedy," H.C. Oakley & Co.," and "Chino Ranch Market" and people and bicycles are in this view. There are broadsides for Lew Johnson's Uncle Tom's Cabin Company posted on a building at far left.
"Ontario-corner of Euclid & Holt"--text, handwritten in margin. Title devised by cataloger. Date devised by cataloger based on year building built - 1895 (City of Ontario Historic Landmark). Date approximated by cataloger based on year that Lew Johnson's company toured California (see Henry T. Sampson, Blacks in Blackface: A Sourcebook on Early Black Musical Shows, 14). Note: There is another photograph mounted on the reverse: A view of a steam launch with a coaling wharf and a ship in the background. The steam launch boat is named "Point Loma."
