Annotation translation: "Amulet no 3: against all kinds of difficulties. Bought for £ 4. No 10 'eko dua', buffalo tail with shells to prevent the enemy resisting. Bought for 50 + gun + piece of cloth. No 4 a donkey's tail with a piece of lion's skin and a ring to make the owner invincible. Bought for 32 fr. No 6 a ram's horn rapped in skin and containing medicine, to be worn around the wrist. Meant to bring success in trade." Annotation: "Amulette No 3 devait le faire .... [unleserlich] toutes difficultés. Il l'acheta 100 = £ 4. No 10 eko dua = 'queu de buffle' devait dans tout procès empêcher la partie adverse de lui resister. Quelsques ... [unleserlich] coquilles y sont attachés. Il l'acheta pour 50 ... [unleserlich] + fusil + piece d'etoffe.
