An altar boy holds a Bible for Archbishop Arturo Rivera y Damas, who is sitting and holding the mass during the the third anniversary of the assassination of Archbishop O?scar Arnulfo Romero. Romero was shot as he celebrated mass in a hospital chapel on March 24, 1980. Pope Francis canonized Romero, now Saint Óscar Romero, in 2018. The United Nations-led Truth Commission investigation concluded in 1983 that Roberto d'Aubuisson, a right wing politician that set up anti-communist death squads in El Salvador, was responsible for the murder of Romero but he was never brought to justice.
