Photograph caption dated February 28, 1961 reads, "Star Scout, Lloyd Nelson, left, and first class Scout, Charles Siegle Jr., receive Pro Deo Et Patria awards from pastor Ernest Gjelten at Van Nuys Central Lutheran Church. The awards are the highest honor the Lutheran Church bestows on Boys Scouts and are comparable to the God and Country awards presented by other Protestant churches. In back row, from left, are Messrs. and Mmes. Einar Nelson and Charles Siegle, parents of the boys. Central Lutheran Church sponsors an Explorer Post, Boy Scout Troop and Cub Pack".
