Photograph caption dated April 24, 1962 reads, "More than 500 pickets demonstrated in front of Federal Building here to protest the opening of closed hearings by a subcommittee of House Committee on Un-American Activities. They carried signs saying, 'Stop the HUAC now,' and 'We oppose the HUAC.' One motorist stopped his car and shouted to pickets, 'Go to Russia...'"
