Description
Dhylan Lal has been the principal of culturally diverse Carson High School or almost two years. Lal has reinvigorated the spirit of this school based on a simple—but expensive—code of respect. Respect for self, parent, teacher and classmate. KCET captures Lal and his students at the school’s International Day where, in the wake of the 1992 riots, the concept of respect is sorely tested. Also profiled is a Carson man from American Somoa who returns to Western Somoa to learn what is necessary before he ascends to the chieftaincy that he has inherited. Life & Times goes with him on his journey, and captures a modern soul searching for ancient truths.
