Photograph caption dated July 31, 1947 reads, "Mr. Football, Van Nuys' Bob Waterfield or [sic] the Los Angeles Rams, was honored by Van Nuys Legion post last night at a dinner held in the organization's clubhouse. Here are some of the hundreds of men who were there to honor him, with the guest of honor second from the right in the seated group. Pictured, left to right, are, standing, Bob Snyder, Rams coach; Lorn Thompson, vice commander; A. L. Lane, commander, and Johnny Ussery, adjutant; seated, Fred Gehrke and Tom Harmon, Rams halfbacks; Waterfield, and Bob Kelley, well known radio commentator and the evening's master of ceremonies."
