“Hospital. Sick in foreground. Wards, banda and tent, behind. These were my surgical wards.” Landscape view showing tents and thatched huts with indigenous men gathering outside. Lt. AC Irvine, RAMC, was stationed at a Carrier Hospital at Dodoma which treated members of the Carrier Corps. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in German East Africa and Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya.
