Description
This May 1922 photograph shows a parade held as part of Sacramento’s Days of ’49 festivities. A wagon makes its way down K Street, at its intersection with Seventh Street, led by six horses and driven by Jack Smith. The wagon and horses were rented from Hood rancher Edgar Simpson. Several riders follow on horseback, wearing Western-style clothing. Throngs of people line both sides of the street, many dressed in 19th century garb. American flags hang from streetlamps. A few businesses are visible: Bon Marche women’s clothing store at 631 K St. and the Golden Eagle Hotel at 629 K St.
