Photograph caption dated February 29, 1964 reads, "John Van Bevern of Notre Dame High School digs in around [sic] corner in his 440 victory Friday, setting a school record with his time of 49-7. Van Bevern was a two-time winner, as he took the 220-yard dash in Notre Dame's close, 53-50 1/2, win over Crespi High."
