Description
Annotation translation: "In order to get hold of a Bible these young men travel around with the missionary for weeks on end, inviting people to come and hear the preaching, forming a choir with him, sleeping with him in poverty-striken huts, wading through deep waters, suffering hunger and thirst. When they get back theiy receive the book they want, and payment for their work. In this picture Mrs Zürcher is giving the young men the New Testament [as a reward] for their work." Annotation: "Um einer Bibel willen gehen diese Jungen mit dem Missionar wochenlang auf Reisen, laden ein zur Heidenpredigt, bilden mit ihm einen Singchor, schlafen mit ihm in elenden Hütten, gehen durch tiefe Wasser, erleiden Hunger & Durst. Wenn sie heimkommen, bekommen sie das Buch & auch den Lohn für das, was sie gearbeitet haben. Hier gibt Frau Miss. Zürcher das Neue Testament den Jungen für ihre Arbeit." Note: Cf.
