Photograph of a drawing by Adolf Wellman depicting a view of San Francisco from the California Street Hotel, 1885. The dual spires of what appears to be a church stand visible on the block to the right of center, the rest of the city extending back to the bay along the horizon where ships can be seen. A mountain ridge slopes in from the left. In the left foreground, a woman with a small child can be seen facing away from the viewer along a brick and wrought-iron fence. Wellman lived at 25 Park Place in New York City. The image forms a panorama with CHS-7360. The city is visible from behind a hill that is partially visible sloping down out of the foreground, dappled with trees. The spires of two separate churches can be seen to the left and right of the image. The bay is partially visible along the horizon to the left, while more houses can be seen faintly along the mountains in the distance.
