Printed on reverse: Hotel St. Catherine is situated upon the ocean front a half-mile from Avalon, with a mountain background in beautiful Descanso Canyon, and nestles amid picturesque surroundings. Written on reverse "Dear Mary Francis, People down here dress just like we do - fur coats & all and it isn't a bit cold here either. I suppose you & Mabel enjoyed the Opera - haven't seen the fair yet - but learning so much about it I almost feel there isn't any use.
