Photograph of a view of the dragline excavation of the trench for the Slauson Avenue storm drain outlet, April 29, 1936. The deep trench runs from the foreground at right into the distance at center. Three large steam shovels can be seen on the sloping side of the trench at center. Two large groups of people can be seen in the bottom of the trench. One group is in the foreground at right, while the other is in the distance at left.
