Photograph caption dated April 25, 1944 reads, "Only the front steps, arrow, remain standing at the home James Rodriguez after it was demolished by a fire starting from a gas explosion that rocked Bellflower early today. In the smoking ruins were the bodies of Rodriguez' two children, Susanne Marie, and James, who were burned to death."
