Description
KNTV San Jose broadcast news footage for May 29, 1969; may be combination of the early and late news, includes national, local, sports and weather. Part 1: Silent footage of news conference; San Jose State Spartan Foundation Fund banquet (silent); silent footage of overturned vehicle; reporter Eric Williams talks with Chief of Detectives Bart Collins regarding Juanita Nicholson murder investigation. Part 2: San Jose Mayor Ron James answers questions about the Fiesta de las Rosas, costs of policing the recent Be-In rock festival, and endorsing candidates for City Council; San Jose woman Vivian Alice Macintosh of 1039 Regent Street walks away from collision with train (silent). Part 3: Dick Reizner reports from conference at San Jose State on dangers from man-made environmental changes, with comments from Dr. Peter Raven of Stanford Biology Department and Dr. Thomas Harvey of San Jose State; sprint car drivers at San Jose Speedway including Mike McCreery, Johnny Anderson, Dave Bolling, Gary Ponzini, Hank Butcher, and Bob de Young (silent). Part 4: Pete Leslie's golf weekend report; Report on the San Jose State Spartan Foundation Fund banquet, highest fundraiser awards to SJPD officer James Guido and Dan Caputo. (1968 Olympian Lee Evans can be seen sitting at the far right of the table, with Spartans football player Frank Slaton to his right).
