Description
1989-1157. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. B, leaf 2. On the corner of the street stands a three-story house with porches around each floor; two men stand on each side of a tree which is located exactly on the corner of the street;to the right down the side of the street is the Quaker Cafeteria, designated by the sign in front of the building with five large windows; to the left of the house on the corner are three one storey houses, a larger two storey house, a lot, and finally two commercial buildings; streetlights are visible at regular intervals and a sidewalk runs in front of the house and buildings. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Removing a large elm tree, these men received $15.00 from the city for their labor."
