Jockey Raymond York was a thoroughbred horse racing jockey who began his career in 1949 and retired in 1992; but on January 13, 2000 at the age of 66, he rode a 4-year-old gelding at Santa Anita Park, becoming the first jockey to have ridden in seven different decades. Throughout his career, York won 3,082 races.
Photograph caption date stamped May 14, 1964 reads, "Ray York of Woodland Hills comes out of the winner's circle Wednesday after riding Elder Statesman to a win in the first race of the day and the meeting. Picture above shows the horses breaking out of the gate, with York and Elder Statesman coming out of chute five in the center."
