Made accessible through a grant from the John Randolph Haynes and Dora Haynes Foundation and Photo Friends.
Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Pictured is 'Burbank's Daydream' float which claimed the sweepstakes prize in the Pasadena Rose Parade. The float depicted Burbank's daydream--that of claiming another sweepstakes prize as city did two years ago. A floral gold cup symbolizing the Sweepstakes Award sits under a portico with stairs leading to a garden below. The float was built at cost of $8,000 and was decorated with 22,000 Vanda orchids as well as stock, roses, azaleas, chrysanthemums, ginger leaves, and potted plants. Photograph dated January 1, 1958. See image 00155409 for additional photo in this series.
