Description
Photograph of the deepest oil well on Signal Hill, Long Beach, May 1, 1928. What appears to be a two-story cottage-style residential home stands behind a palm tree to the right of a tall oil siphon tower at center. The tower marked an oil well that was 7,409 feet deep and was operated by the Richfield Oil Company. A water tower can be seen behind the house to the right, as well as a second siphon in the distance to the left. A tall, conical shrub droops in from the left foreground.
