These photographs are contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."

View 1 (v1p385). Captioned: "California Hotel and Theater, destroyed in 1906." Text written next to photo: "Corner-Laurel Place Saloon. 2nd building St. George Stables. 3rd building no. 2 Engine House S.F.F. Dept. It was in this latter house that Chief Dennis Sullivan met his death by falling chimney of California Hotel adjouning [sic] April 18, 1906."
