Description
Photograph shows a horse team 'trailing' on a log chute at Beal's Camp, Lyonsville area, of the Sierra Lumber Company. 6 or 8 logs made an average 'trail'. They were rolled into the chute with the larger logs placed at the rear. A cable was attached to the next to last log and the last log was 'dogged' to it with iron nose clamps'. The horse team's harness was attached to the cable by a chain that was long enough to prevent the horses from pulling at right angles.
