Overall photo taken at Pres. Roosevelt's birthday ball at the Biltmore Hotel. Over 1000 persons dined and danced happy over the thought that they were not only celebrating the fifty-second birthday of President Roosevelt, but alo helping to provide life and happiness for thousands of little children who now will be able to receive treatment for their infantile paralysis. A highlight of the ball was the auction of a huge birthday cake. After spirited bidding by society and civic leaders, the cake was finally sold for $800 to Mrs. Silsby Spalding of Santa Barbara. Photograph dated February 1, 1934.
