Description
This 1940s rooftop photograph, looking west, shows the aging Berkshire Apartments at 1126 through 1134 Sixth Street. To the right of the apartment building is the Volunteers of America building at 1116 Sixth Street. Eugene B. Livingston, owner of the Berkshire Apartments, was acquitted of the murder of James Miller, a young black man he killed after attempting to force him to leave the building.
