Photograph caption dated August 17, 1940 reads, "Officers wondered about the source of Siegel's wealth, for he lived in a 35-room mansion, superbly furnished, and he cut a wide swath in Hollywood night life. Above is the private bar in his home, stocked with choice liquors and equipped with slot machines to entertain his friends."
