Description
Photograph of the painting "Planting Potatoes" by Millet, depicting a man and a woman gardening, [s.d.]. The man is shown at left, bend over with the hoe as he tries to make furrows for the woman, who is pictured at right, to drop potatoes into. In the background, a donkey can be seen beneath a tree behind a bassinet which holds a baby. The rest of the background is flatland moving out into the distance. Millet's painting inspired "The Man with a Hoe", (a poem?) by Edwin Markham.
