Photograph of a Navajo family in their hogan on the Painted Desert preparing a meal, showing view from side, ca.1901. At center near the entrance of the hogan, nine people can be seen consisting of one man, two women, and six children. A woman at left is grinding green corn into flour. At right, an older woman sits on a box near a support post with her hands folded in her lap. Behind her, a man can be seen sitting on the ground with the children behind him. A metal pitcher is hanging from one of the hogan's timbers. Leafy branches line the roof of the hogan.
