Description
Plates in: Description of and report upon the Great Western Quicksilver Mining Co's mine and property in Lake County, California Decr. 10th, 1879 / by Abraham Halsey and R.M. Wilson ; A. Hossack, artist. Plate No. 9. Tunnel entrance, men (and one woman) and wagons around entrance, horse-drawn ore cars, several of miners are Chinese in traditional dress. 2011-1147. Quicksilver Mining Company was incorporated August 8th, 1872, producing first flask of quicksilver in Oct. 1873. Mine is located 16 miles north of Calistoga in Lake County.
