Date supplied by cataloger based on approximated year provided by Ernest Marquez with reproduced image in Santa Monica Beach: a collector's pictorial history (Angel City Press, 2004), page 21. The hotel, which opened in 1887, was built next to a steep cliff and shows only 3 stories on the Ocean Avenue side (seen in related items) and 5 stories on the beach side.
