Description
Chief Shrewsbury resetting the fire alarm box during fire at unpaved 334 Magnolia (Third and Magnolia). Shrewsbury was first Long Beach Fire Chief, and served from 1901 until his death in 1916. Apparatus shown down the street include 1906 Steam pumper and hose wagon, with firefighters directing hose toward off-camera fire. Dog next to Chief. Label on reverse of photo says: "W. R. Mendenhall, #7, 503 W. Third.
