Description
The central, colossal standing Buddha statue. It is the tallest Buddha statue in Sri Lanka and was found lying horizontally with damage to several parts, including the right hand, face and feet. Restoration to its present state completed in 1991.View from right side of viewer. 37 feet, 10 inches (11.53 meters) in height, carved out of dolomite limestone rock. It is 41 feet, 10 inches in height, with the pedestal.
