Photograph caption dated September 2, 1959 reads, "Dr. Robert A. Schemmel and nurse Virginia Davis discuss success of first polio vaccine clinic held by Burbank Hospital's Emergency Care department when 1,511 inoculations were given. They stand beside empty one-shot syringes used at clinic. Sept. 22 has been scheduled for next clinic."
