Description
Ruins of John Thomas and Hilaria (Sanchez) Reed's adobe, built around 1835-37. Reed hired Native Americans to make the adobe bricks to build this adobe brick house on what is now La Goma Street and Locke Lane. Wood was cut in his saw mill and used for the beams in the building. Reed married 19-year-old Hilaria Sanchez in 1836, and their four children were born in this adobe. It was in "ruinous condition" in 1880. Source: "Mill Valley the Early Years" Barry Spitz
