Photograph caption dated January 21, 1985 reads, "Carrying ironic - and misspelled - placards, a group of 15 demonstrators hoping to save Cathedral High School appeared on the sidewalk outside Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood yesterday, where a congregation of 1,500 was attending a special name Mass offered by Cardinal Timothy Manning. Pastor William Thom said the protesters asked the worshipers to sign a petition to keep open the high school near Chinatown, and about 60 percent of the parishioners did so. The archdiocese has sold the school to a firm which plans to demolish it and erect an office and residential facility on the site. But the Los Angeles City Council stalled the project with a moratorium enacted at the urging of outgoing Councilman Art Snyder." Cathedral High School is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.
