Description
Survival school students wear bundles of straw over their camouflage hats and practice silent swim techniques, an attempt to cross a pond discreetly without being detected. The 160-acre camp, better known as the Starlight Training Center in Liberal, Missouri, was owned by Harry Claflin, a former U.S. Marine in Vietnam. The students are U.S. civilians with different backgrounds and professions who paid money in exchange for survivalist training. Claflin also spent time studying the tactics, troop proficiency, and military effectiveness of foreign countries like those in Central America where he trained Guatemalan, Nicaraguan, and Salvadoran special forces.
