The front entrance of the Cahuenga Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. The library, located at 4591 Santa Monica Boulevard, was built with a {dollar}35,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie. Architect C.H. Russel designed this Italian Renaissance style building, which, at the time it opened in 1916, was intended to serve a community of workers in the then nearby orange and avocado groves and wheat fields.
