Title supplied by cataloger.; Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Domenico (Dominic) Di Ciolla, was one of the earliest leaders of what became known as the Los Angeles crime family. He was involved in bootlegging and allegedly several murders. He was found murdered near Pacoima in 1931, after challenging other crime bosses in an attempt to expand his expand his criminal operations. Photograph caption dated March 24, 1931 reads "This photo shows Mrs. Louis Dicorato, right, and her mother, Mrs. Marie Stiano, center, intently listening to Dicorato's testimony, given in Italian through an interpreter. Dicorato testified that he 'went broke bootlegging.' He said that on the night of the slaying he was at the home of Joe Memeo." A man is sitting to the right of Mrs. Stiano.
