Description
Photograph article dated October 9, 1956 reads, "Byers L. Cook of 4469 Murietta Ave., Sherman Oaks, has announced his retirement as yard crew dispatcher for the Southern Pacific Co. after 50 years of railroading. He began his career as a clerk in the ofice [sic] of the president of the Chicago and Alton Railroad in Chicago. He also worked for the Chicago and Great Western and for the Santa Fe before joining Southern Pacific in 1913. His retirement was marked by a dinner party at the Glendale Elks Club attended by some 150 friends and associates."
