Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on June 4, 1963 states: "This forest giant, more than 200 years old, is among dozens of large trees felled during construction of a shopping center alongside US Highway 50 near Stateline. Most developers of commercial land at Lake Tahoe apparently prefer acres of barren paving to natural beauty."
