Photograph of a view of First Street looking west from Vignes Street, Los Angeles, 1934. First Street runs from the foreground to the background at center and is divided by streetcar tracks. Vignes runs across the image from left to right in the foreground. Several large, one-story brick buildings can be seen along the sides of the road, and many automobiles are parked near the concrete curbs that line the streets. Utility wires are visible overhead. Legible signs include, from left: "C. Gahahl Lumber Co. ", "Listenwalter Distribut[...] Philco [...] Kelvin", and "K. G. Caruso's Liquors".
