Description
Photograph of the School at Clearwater (later Paramount) with about 45 children and teachers standing (or sitting) in front or on the front stairs or in the entryway. The squarish 2-story wooden Victorian building has a square tower whose roof comes to a point and is supported by a series of round columns is directly over the main entry. The schoolyard is enclosed by a wooden fence on the right. The landscape is devoid of plants of any significant size. "Clearwater -- A farming settlement and post office in Los Angeles County, about 3 miles from the town of Compton, the nearest telegraph and express. Population of the settlement is about 200. Henry harrison, Postmaster and general store." -- City Directory (1892).
