Description
Photograph of an exterior view an adobe house on Rancho El Refugio del Ortegas in Arroyo Hondo, 1937. The one-story rancher, which was built circa 1870 using some recycled materials from older buildings, is pictured at center, visible behind an arid garden of trees an bushes. In the center, a clothes line can be seen. The adobe appears to have wooden siding to the left, although spackle can be seen at the other end of the home, where a picket fence extends. Tall, lush trees can be seen in the background, looming over the house. At the time the photo was taken, Ortegas were still living in the adobe.
