Photograph caption dated November 22, 1960 reads, "Los Angeles Councilman Everett Burkhalter and librarian Francis [sic] Miller, foreground, break ground for the new $200,000 Pacoima Branch Library. In rear, Vito Galasso, left, and Earl Erne, Chamber of Commerce president. inspect foundation trench. The library will be located at the nortwest corner of Van Nuys boulevard and Haddon avenue. Expected to be completed in August, the new library will have space for 20,000 books. It will replace the present library, which is operated out of a rented store at 13704 Van Nuys Blvd."
