Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated January 27, 1962 partially reads, "Booming birth rates in the Valley not only mean a rapidly increasing population, but a booming babysitting business for teenagers. Demands for capable young baby sitters are so numerous that they can't all be filled, according to placement offices in Valley schools. 'We get an average of 10 calls a week for baby sitters, but not many girls at Valley apply for such positions,' according to Mrs. Marian Van Meter, of the Valley College placement bureau in Van Nuys." Photograph caption reads, "Janice and Chris meet 6-month-old Dennis Smith. First step in babysitting is to get acquainted with the child."; See images #00130661 through #00130665 for all photos in this series.
