Description
USS South Dakota was an armored cruiser of the Pennsylvania class, launched on July 21, 1904. After service in the First World War, she was sent as the flagship of the Asiatic Fleet. She was renamed USS Huron on June 7, 1920 and remained for another seven years, operating in the Philippines during the winter and Shanghai and Chefoo during the summer. She was scrapped in 1930 in accordance with the London Naval Treaty.
