Boone School was founded in 1871 as a memorial to William Jones Boone, first Bishop of the American Church Mission (Episcopal) in China. It was incorporated as a university, under laws of the District of Columbia, 1909. In 1922, Boone joined with Wesley College and Griffith John College to form Central China College, also known as Huachung College.
