Bust-length portrait. "Cornelius Cole 100 T Mrch 9 1923" -- handwritten on front. "J. Frances Hill - L.A.-" -- lower right corner. 1990-1620. Cornelius Cole was born in New York in 1822. Came overland to California in 1849, spending time in gold mines. Worked as lawyer and newspaper editor (Sacramento Daily & Weekly Times) in Sacramento. Elected to Congress, serving in House of Representatives and Senate. Settled on ranch in Hollywood in 1881, worked as lawyer in Los Angeles. Died in 1924.
