Written on verso: "May 24, 1901; Trip to Mt. Hamilton, lunch at Smith's Creek, Class of January 1902."
Mount Hamilton is the tallest mountain overlooking Silicon Valley, and is the site of Lick Observatory, the first permanently occupied mountain-top observatory. It was named after the Reverend Laurentine Hamilton (1827-1882).
